Why ClearWill

Proper wills, without the price tag

27 million UK adults don't have a will. Most say it's too expensive or too complicated. We fixed both.

Every will follows the requirements of the Wills Act 1837, with proper revocation clauses, executor appointments, and attestation provisions.

Plain English

You answer questions in everyday language. The AI handles the legal phrasing, so the final document reads clearly while being legally sound.

A solicitor appointment takes weeks and costs hundreds. ClearWill takes about 10 minutes and is free to draft. Your time is better spent elsewhere.

Questions

Frequently asked

Everything you need to know about using ClearWill.

Is a will made with ClearWill legally valid?
A will is legally valid in England & Wales if it complies with the Wills Act 1837: it must be in writing, signed by the testator, and witnessed by two people who are present at the same time. ClearWill generates the document — you make it legal by signing it correctly. We provide full instructions.
Do I need a solicitor?
For straightforward estates, no. ClearWill is designed for people with relatively simple wishes — specific gifts, a residuary estate, executors, and optionally guardians for children. If your situation involves trusts, business assets, foreign property, or complex tax planning, we recommend consulting a solicitor.
Who can be a witness?
Anyone aged 18 or over who is not a beneficiary in your will (and whose spouse/civil partner is not a beneficiary). Both witnesses must be present at the same time when you sign. Common choices: neighbours, colleagues, or friends who don't inherit anything.
What happens to my data?
Your will data is stored temporarily while you complete the form. We don't share your information with third parties. Once you download your will, you can delete your draft at any time.
Can I update my will later?
Yes. When circumstances change (marriage, children, new assets), you should make a new will. Simply come back to ClearWill and create an updated version. The new will automatically revokes any previous wills.
